Hello, this is my first post here.
I'm currently running a core i7 2600K and an Nvidia GTX 560 Ti.
I've had a problem for a while and I really want to find out what's going on.
Basically, whenever I play a game, like Bioshock Infinite or Dota 2, after a few minutes (sometimes an hour or so) I start hearing this really really loud electrical like buzzing sound. It's very loud so I'm guessing it's not coil whine. When I shut the game down, the sound immediately stops, and in some games, if I alt-tab out, the noise stops as well.
My first guess was "it's the GPU" since this only happens when I'm playing games. But then I tried turning the fan up, and it wasn't making much of a difference. But one day I opened my PC up and my PSU was REALLY hot. I tried keeping the GPU fan to default speed, and i pushed my PC case away from the wall to give it some air space, and I played Skyrim (i get the sound usually) for about 1 hour and I didn't get that sound.
My guess : The PSU is overheating, the only way to cool it off was to push it away from the wall since I can't control it's fan.
But I'm really not sure, and why would the noise stop IMMEDIATELY after I close the games? Any help is appreciated. Please let me know what you think.
Thank you.
