NO WAY!

To be honest, the PS4 gpu is intergrated chip so I would not expect it to perform like a R9 290X. The gpu equilvant is around a 7770 and 7790 which are quite low-mid end cards.

The PS4 is a GAMES CONSOLE. Now to be honest, the reason why SONY would not put a r9 290x like chip in the system is because it would cost something ridiculously high. The PS4 isn't a PC Killer, its not even next gen in my opinion

Not by clock rate. Plus this is in a PS4, a way worse OS than Win 7, so it becomes a slightly worse 7870

To be honest, from my Point of Perspective its no way a radeon 7870 or 7850. If it was, the price will go up largerly. When you think about it, SONY is a bussiness and usually the console costs twice as less to build then its sold. So $200 seems quite a low budget and putting a 7870-like GPU isn't going to help, the GPU costs around that. Like I said, from reliable sources they think its between a 7790 and 7850. No questions asked....

I believe it is about an AMD 7850 but consoles don't have directx holding them back so they can get more out of the hardware. Similar to what AMD's mantle should bring to the pc soon

In real wold performance that I've seen so far I'd say 7770-7790 would perform close if not better on a pc.

obviously these guys dunno wot they are talking about as they are comparing raw gpu numbers...lets put it like this
a lancer EVO X has a 2.0 engine.... yet it can take out cars like the holden commodore SS ( a 5.0+ V8 car) in a drag race..

so similarly comparing the raw gpu power of a 7970 with a ps4 is useless..
atm PS4 is far more efficient and renders graphics better than any pc.(if we stick with 1080p that is).
Infamous second son is by far the best looking game right now... and not even crysis 3 measures up to it given the fact infamous is a open world game rather than a linear game like crysis....
when ps3/ xb360 came out their gpus were equivalent to the Nvidia 7800gt and ati x1800pro.... yet if u look at the games like LAST OF US on ps3... i doubt a 7800 or x1800 would be able to run those kind of graphics..
reason is simple.... Consoles are highly optimized and far more efficient than a gaming pc,
I have a fairly decent pc... and after playing games on ps4..( they r v smooth)... i got the same results on pc which cost 4 times more than ps4

just take a look at that game Order 1886... there isnt any game out there that has better graphics than that.... PCs will catch up...but that would take afew years as games are very poorly optimized for pcs
