So this is my first build, the computer is not booting up 🙁 im not to sure if its because i haven't pluged my ssd yet (im waiting for my ssd to be delivered) and i have no other memory hooked to the computer expect for the ram. Should i hope for the components to work?

I don't currently have the hdd (I'm waiting for it to be delivered) there is no response, the monitor says there is no signal, and i can't even hear the power supply, or the fans working.

Thank you

Even without the hard drive, the fans should spin. i would follow Blackbird's advice and wait until you have all of the componenets. Then re-seat all of the cables.

Okay, ill wait however i am abit worried as, the fans should be running without the connection of a hdd

Thanks for replying, I guess ill have to wait it out. Do you have any other suggestions whilst i wait, to double check if the computer will turn on?
Thanks once more

I have checked that the power supply is not faulty (using the paper clip method) and it is not, I have unplugged and plugged all the connectors to the motherboard, but yet no reponse. The only place I might have gone wrong is the front pin connectors, if you could help that would be great, the motherboard is an "asus m5a78l-m plus/usb3" the manual is near enough useless. the motherboard has a mini diagram of the front panel assignment, however it is hard to understand, if you could help that would be great.

Many thanks

This should be pinout of your front panel connector:
(it's for slightly different asus model, but front panel connector should be the same)
PWRBTN - is what you're looking for.

Thanks for the guidance once more, much appreciated. I have gone and followed this pin assignment and yet no signal, boot up or sight of life

Are you sure you checked every point in that list?

Try assembling your PC outside of the case.
Use only:
  • motherboard;
    cpu with cpu heatsink;
    1 ram module;
    PSU;
    power switch connector from case (or alternatively you can use screwdriver to short power switch contacts on board);
    onboard speaker;
    monitor connected to integrated GPU
Connect everything and try to start it up.

If still not working, post photos of how you have connected everything.

I am so grateful first of all how you are supporting me, ill try building the computer out of the case, this may be a silly question but how do i post photos(via ur, what website do i usel)?

Many Thanks

What is that?! Have you connected molex power connector to chasis fan header?
That's completely wrong thing to do. Motherboard can be damaged that way.

Also for now disconnect front panel audio and front panel usb connectors
and retry powering on your PC.
(BTW - can't see if ATX 12V power cable is properly connected)
