Is a side case fan necessary for OC-ing?

Jan 30, 2003
I plan on OC-ing an Athlon 64 X2 system and I'm only interested in a mid tower. I hate the Power Ranger/Transformer/Alien cases, but I would like a window. It seems that the cleaner cases don't have side fans. Will that be a problem?

A case I'm interested in is the Cooler Master Centurion 5 windowed case. Has an 80mm in front, 120mm in back and I would put another 120 in the front behind the bottom 3 5.25" mesh bays. I could do the same with the non-windowed version and everything would be fine (because it has a side fan) but I'd like the window.

Any suggestions on decent mid-tower cases good for OC-ing?

Well I did some "searching" and here.

I can't personally suggest any really. But I also imagine you could stick with the windowed one and get a cooler that had a side intake, as opposed to one pointing at the case side that would use the side-air duct.
Superflower SF-201T. It doesn't have a side air duct, but has great ventilation and is a steal for $73 + S/H.
