Is a sound card necessary for me?

Hello,

I will start by telling you I don't know much about audio at all.

I am going to buy a Sennheiser PC360 very shortly, but need some advice first.

I hear mixed opinions everywhere I look on the matter; some people say a cheap sound card would make all the difference, whereas others claim it would be useless to buy one sub-£200 with a modern motherboard.

Here is the PC360 I'm ordering:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003DA4D2U/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0W0V6ZH3N8Y0VD6XNEF9&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=430153987&pf_rd_i=468294

And here's the sound card I'm fixed on if I do get one (Asus Xonar DGX):

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007RMMYFI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

So, is this sound card necessary? I'm not fussed about spending the extra £20 as long as it will make a difference.

I have a Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3h motherboard, which I believe has some of the latest on-board audio.

Thanks.

With the cheap £20 card I linked, will the improvement still be great?
