Is Adaptive Sync the Same as Gsync?

I keep hearing Adaptive Vsync, is that the same as Adaptive Sync?
Also, can Nvidia gpu run Adaptive Sync monitor or is it solely Gsync?

I don't see anywhere about adaptive vsync. This is not the same as adaptive sync. Adaptive vsync is an nvidia only feature that just turns vsync on when above your monitor's hz and turns it off when it's below. This prevents tearing when above and removes the stuttering and input lag issues when below. A compromise.
