Is Air Cooling Viable when using 3-SLI?

Lets say I had three Titan Xs linked up in SLI.
Is the setup doomed to overheat without water cooling or can fan cooling suffice?

it can suffice, but if you are spending that much water cooling is a good idea. you would need some really need some good airflow.

Would the Corsair 540 Air case with noctua fans do the trick?

if you have the fans pushing air into the three card sides then most likely yes. also there are the EVGA ACX coolers to put on a titan.

Just took a look and it seems pretty cool. I'll stick with the air style I know and love for now but if I get round to it, I shall upgrade to liquid somehow.
