is AMD A10 a good processor?

AMD A10 is good but there is no point in getting it since you can get a Athlon II x4 750K (the 2013 one) + a better graphics card for similar price. I do not see any point in getting the AMD A10 over the Athlon + Graphics Card

Anyways, tell me your budget. I might be able to plan a better build for you.

the 2.66 isn't the 9550. It's slower and not just because of clock speed.

can't figure out why people would suggest putting a non-gpu processor on an FM2 board. there other alternatives that really DO make sense.

what are you trying to build and what parts do you have....... including a case and operating system or even a keyboard.................. and what do you have to spend?..... in reality............

250$, specifically for a mobo, processor and RAMs
I will soon acquire a 7870 so thats already out of the building budget.

Because anything less wouldn't be much of an upgrade. Unless you overclocked some 750K Athlon Processor to like 4GHz or something but then you'd simply have an overclocked version of your current system.

Well the Intel build would be using an out of date Motherboard (dead-end) and a weaker processor in terms of multi threading/multi tasking.

Hey bro, you are pairing an i3 CPU with a Z77 motherboard? Why? There is no need for that. An i3 would work just fine with a B75 Motherboard. There is no need of getting a Z77 motherboard with an i3 3220

Anyways getting an i3 is not useul for now as more and more games are getting multi threaded and hence getting a Quad Core with 4 real cores is much better than getting an i3 which is basically a dual core with hyper threading enabled, which is not as effective as real 4 cores. So, do not go for this as there is no use of it.

Two components I never go super cheap on are the Motherboard and the Power Supply. I don't like anything not at the very least 80+ Gold for Power Supplies and I don't like motherboards with extremely cheap components and near non-existent VRMs. It's just that when either of those parts go, anything connected to them, might also go with them.

It's something I do from experience being an old tech guy.

Oh God! What would you do of good VRM in no overclockable CPU. The B75 boards were made for the i3's in mind because if someone spends around 120 dollars on the CPU then he would usually not spend more than 50-60 dollars on the Motherboard. That is why the B75 boards were designed. Getting a MSI-B75-MA-P45 would be good enough for the i3. And if you still think i am wrong then i really have no words left to say other than sit here and laugh.

Anyone would laugh seeing you go for the i3 and a Z77 motherboard.

i have to say, putting an i3 with a z77 is just a mistake. Even a cheap h61 will do the job just fine, and he ll never note the difference. Might aswell just get an h61 and a i5 3450, i think that is about the same price

That may be true... they may laugh now. But after a few years of intermittent power surges, spikes and just the overall heat inside that case their motherboard will fail. Mine won't. Their 80+ Bronze PSU will fail... My 80+ Gold won't.

Once I upgrade my system I'll be able to hand it down to a family member or someone else in need. You likely won't.
Your system will end up in a trash heap. Maybe somewhere in Malaysia/India. Contaminating the soil with Mercury, Lead and other Toxic chemicals.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for and as I explained previously... years of building systems has taught me not to go cheap on either the motherboard or the power supply. If one of those fails, as a result of a short or a cheap capacitor, the whole system may likely fail (CPU, Video cards, SSDs, Hard drives etc.).

All I'm doing is offering a different perspective. You're entitled to your opinions... as I am to mine.

The thing is you get what you pay for. You don't have to have a computer that should be future proof that you can give/sell it to somebody else. But If you want to, it's better for you and you have to pay more money.

I think you should go with the i3 or the FX. Your Q8400 is too old :).
