Its been 7 years I am using My Pc , And I am still happy , just feel to upgrade ram from 4gb ddr3 to 8gb+ .and faster Hdd .
Right now my pc is not one of the fastest , but its not slowest too .Before that I've usually upgraded PC's after 3 years , so this is new record for me.
I use my pc for surfing net.Youtube and to watch Hd movies ,I don't play games on pc (I play it on ps3).
I haven't used latest config pc's so I dont know how fast they are .So as I said I've been thinking of upgrading ram and ssd .So how much time will be able to use my pc ? is it already outdated ?

My config : Gigabyte MA 785GMT-UD2H rev.1 + AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE with CM Hyper TX3 Evo,2x2=4gb DDR3 1333mhz ram ,80gb wd sata (installed win 10 64bit on this)+160gb seagate +1Tb seagate ,CM cabinet + Antec VP650P Psu .

Well, afaik, Deneb max out at 1600mhz while Thuban goes as far as 1800mhz.

Your motherboard indicates that it 'can' go 1800 only by OC. While the rest depends on the stick itself. So, it should run accordingly. But just to be sure, you could check the BIOS's memory settings.

However, afaik, any AM3 CPU regardless on what board they put up with will run the memory they're given at 1333 by default.
I still use my 965 for my media center.

I purchased the 965 when it was the latest and greatest gaming beast. It has been retired to my computer dedicated to my kids minecraft, sims 4 and media computer. I have updated to windows 10 and it runs great. I just had a 4gb stick of ram die so I am now down to only 4gb, still running good.

If you are not gaming then I think you are fine. with what you have. Getting another stick of ram to take you to 8gb would be a cheap upgrade. I also run a older 256 kingston SSD. I have no plans to change away from the 965 until it dies :)

For your usage, the 965 is still ok.
Yes, 8gb is probably better for a 64 bit os.

I think you are missing out on one of the most satisfactory upgrades around, namely a ssd. It will make everything you do quicker.

Buy a Samsung evo of 240gb or larger.
You can use the free Samsung data migration app to move your os and programs to the ssd.
If you have insufficient space for everything, you can exclude large folders such as video files from the migration.
You can keep the hard drive for bulk storage.

I doubt you will ever need to upgrade unless you get into cpu intensive apps or gaming.

You can use your PC till it breaks. The ones my parents use is about as old and run perfectly fine under windows 7. With that being said you would see a noticeable improvement from a new system. My AMD system (phenom x6) never felt as quick as it should be with a ssd. I read that even though the ports are sata III they don't quite work as well as the should. It was still a noticeable upgrade but nowhere near as snappy as my main intel rig. (intel i72700k)

The SSD upgrade alone will do wonders. I know this since I did the same thing on my old Q6600. Which, CPU performance wise, not too far off than your 965. And more RAM will add up multi-tasking headroom accordingly.

My advise is be mindful of the RAM stick you choose. It must at least at the same speed as what you already have, even better if they're also identical in brands too. Or, the easier way is to plug off your stick/s and show it to the store and say you want more of those.

I dont want to use my current ram , I will throw them out or sell them as they are 1333 mhz and costly compared to 1600 mhz ram . I had opened Ram upgrade related thread recently so I will again ask here .--
Can I install 1600mhz ram on my pc ? My mobo has Support for DDR3 1800 (OC)/1666/1333/1066 MHz memory modules.
