Hi.

It is worth buying AMD Ryzen 7 3700x for CPU and Radeon RX5700xt now (as discounts season is coming) ? I need a combo that will last at least 5 years and will allow me to play (CS GO, Witcher, GTA and 1080p high/ultra settings 100+ FPS), work, code, multitask on 3 external monitors.

I am planning to pair the combo with x570 motherboard, NVME Samsung 980 Pro SSD, 32GB RAM.

What are your thoughts? Will Ryzen 7 3700x+RX5700xt last for 5+ years? Or is it better to somehow stretch the budget and buy Ryzen 500 series and RX 6000 series?

Its not a bad combo, but If you wan t the best FPS, I would really go with nvidia cards, like the RTX 3070 if you can get your hands on one, unless you don't mind waiting a bit more for the new RX 6xxx series, which should bge very good buys too (no reviews yet so you should wait for them).

As for the CPUs the Ryzen 7 3700X is a very well rounded chip for gaming and working. Keep in mind on novermber 5 the new Ryzen 5000 series CPUs should be on the stores for sell, and they should be better than the 3000 series and even better than the current intel 10th gen on games too.

The X570 platform will work outof the box with all current Ryzen 3000 series, but you may need to ask the seller to upgrade your BIOS before delivering the mobo to you if you opt for the 5000 series chip (no reviews yet, you should wait for them).

Cheers!

It's a bad time to buy.

Wait a few months and get the new gen cpus and GPU's
The question is why would I get new CPU/GPU? As I see from reviews Ryzen 7 3700x+RX5700xt combo will give me 100+ FPS for any game at high/ultra settings. Does it make sense to pay 3 times more to get 200-300 FPS? My only concern is aging. I wonder how Ryzen 7 3700x+RX5700xt combo will play games in 5 years.

I don't even know why I bother answering after your reply, but oh well:

You want something to last you for 5 years, I really would not look at what I need today, or if today I get 100FPS, I would look beyond (way beyond) that. And lets face it the 5700XT is a great GPU, but its not even in the same level than current top RTX 2000 series cards (blame whoever you want for this, developers, AMD, Nvidia, its just a fact).

So why would you get something that its not top of the line (not even compared to last gen) and hope to stay good for 5 years?

And I never wrote the R7 3700X was a bad chip, in fact I wrote exactly the opposite "As for the CPUs the Ryzen 7 3700X is a very well rounded chip for gaming and working", but I wont agree on your GPU choice, not for a 5 year hope.

No, it is not worth it for now considering that AMD is releasing their new 5000 series CPU and NVIDIA and AMD are releasing new GPUS that are out of stock everywhere.
Also, the 5700xt is well known for having thermal issues, hitting 85 degrees Celsius on plains games
Wait for 3-5 months.

It's not well known for thermal issues, mine has never been over mid 60s temperature wise.
