So I was thinking about buying an i7 but i dont know if it is compatible with my motherboard

Yes, but you can only use skylake chips. For example, i7-6XXX (the numbers replaced with x’s don’t matter) (I don’t think you can use k versions of the cpu either). If it’s a laptop...that may get a little tricky, but you mentioned multiple pci lanes, so I assume it’s a desktop
