Is an Intel i7 2600 compatible with a MSI Z77A-G45 Z77 motherboard?

I was told from Tigerdirect.com that these two units were compatible with one another. I instal the chip into the motherboard, boot up the computer, and it crashes on the start-up screen every time. I am not sure if this is because they are not compatible or if there is another issue occurring. Please let me know if these two units are even compatible to begin with.. Thanks!

The only things I have plugged into the motherboard are the JPWR1 and 2, along with my SSD and the power JFP connector. It is still crashing during the Windows Startup icon (Almost instantly). I do not know what is going on.

CPU fan has been tested both plugged in and unplugged, which still had the same outcome of the BSOD. I popped in my Windows 7 disc and it went passed the Windows loading screen, basically taking me to the "install Windows 7" options. Could this new motherboard possibly not recognize my operating system at the moment and is forcing me to reinstall, or is this normal and will just continue to BSOD even if I were to reinstall my OS?

since you use a ssd how does you bios is set to as ide or ahci and the ssd need to be initiate .

I yanked a hard drive out of an old laptop and through it in my desktop and it loaded it fine. I am assuming there is something wrong with my SSD. I am not quite sure what happened for it to not respond to that, but it works fine with an old 64GB HDD that is 6 years old..

I'm running the i7 2600 on a Z77A-G45 right now, and currently installing windows 7. Everything is working fine, but my cpu fan is running abnormally high. I connected my 860i corsair cpu power 8 pin, even though my cpu only uses 95 watt. Should I use only four pins?
