Is an Ivy Bridge processor viable for gaming on a budget?

I want to upgrade from my i5-3330S and I was wondering if upgrading to an i7-3770 or an i5-3570 would still be viable for gaming in 2018.

I'm running with a pre-built PC from somewhere around 2013. I put a 1050 Ti in there about 6 months ago and it can run modern games well. For example, I can run FFXV on low settings at 1080p 60fps. The fps can fluctuate at times, but it's bearable

I'm not looking for 4K performance or anything. Just as long as I can run games adequately at 1080p 60fps

Mobo- Intel H61 chipset
Processor- i5-3330S
RAM: 8GB DDR3
PSU: 350W

Am I going to have to get a new motherboard and processor or will a new Ivy Bridge processor be fine for gaming? I'm aware that I will most likely have to upgrade the PSU either way

My opinion is that the i7 3770 will manage well in 1080p games, but you will need a BIOS update prior to using it. It will be usable on your system, just consider changing your PSU, it would be good if you could provide its model. Overall that it is an old CPU with no upgradeability, so it would be preferable to just get a new system.

Yes, the 3770(k) would be a large clock speed increase and double your number of threads, both of which would improve gaming performance.
