I was thinking of purchasing an ssd to load my operating system and maybe something else idk. Anyways is the speed worth the price? And if i do buy one, which size should i get? Thanks for the feedback.
If you want SSD performance but the storage of a HDD and don't want to spend that much for both, I suggest an SSHD. Seagate really did a good job with them. The one I'm linking below has 8GB SSD and the rest of 1TB, 2TB or 4TB is a 7200rpm HDD. How it works is the firmware on the drive learns your patterns of what programs you use the most and caches them into the SSD portion for the performance boost. It's not exactly as fast as a full SSD, but it is a noticeable difference.
just built a rig for a friend using the 99.00 cpu g3258 and msi z97 mb from micro center and a 120g evo 840 drive. his boot time from cold off boot is about 10-15 sec. games and aps open up real fast for him. his last system was intel 478 cpu system.
In my opinion that would depend on the brand and the size along with how much you are willing to spend. Other wise yes it can be worth it especially if it gives you want you want.
it worth the price. i started with 128 after 1 year needed 256 now after 1 year i need 512-480. 128gb was 270 pounds when i bought it, 256 was 230, now 512gb ones 230 so depending your cash you make choice.

The fastest setup (with large storage) is SSD program/OS drive + HDD storage, a SSHD is the next fastest and price/performance is a best of both worlds approach.
