I am looking at upgrading my current desktop. I currently play Blizzard games(WOW, Diablo, Ect..), Fallout, Minecraft, and FPS's. I am running 2 ASUS 144hz 1440P monitors.
Specs:
I7 4790
850 pw supply
GTX 1080
32gb DDR3
Gigabyte Z97X gaming 5

Thanks to some current sales, I am looking at a 10600 or 10700, Z390 board with DDR4. Eventually I will upgrade to the 3070 or 3080 series when they are more reasonable. I do run background music and lighting apps while playing.

An excellent point. 400 series minimum for 10th and 11th. Probably want to stick the Z490 as well if you don't go for a 500 series board. Memory overclocking is iffy on the 400 series.
Unlocked Intel cpu's are becoming a thing of the past tbh. B560 board w/half decent VRM's, aftermarket cpu cooler and run it with the PL turned off in the bios.

About that time. 10600KF is quite cheap. A lot of those listed titles probably won't see a huge jump in performance. Depending on the first person shooters, it will make a big difference in multiplayer. A lot of the more recent titles can certainly exceed 8 threads, and the more cores the better.

10600K is actually a little cheaper today.

Intel Z390 boards don't support Intel 10/11 gen cpu's. You need an LGA 1200 board for that.
