Hello!
I am very close to ordering my parts and I need some assistance. First of all here are my parts.

(Originaly)
GPU: GTX 970
CPU: 4460 i5
PSU: ( I have this already (650W))
Case: (Got this)
Mobo: Asus H97 (Pro for Plus depending budget)

My Max budget is £615.

I am using this mostly for 1080p games like Far Cry 4.

I was going for the 4460 but I am still not sure, I have been reccomended the Xeon E3-1230 V3, the EVGA 970 is on deal at scan for £260 and I was planning on getting the strix. Then I would just fit into my budget if I got the deal 970 at scan, but still not sire what to do.

I can't decide and would really appricate some help.

Thank you.

For gaming stick with the i5, higher clock speed will be better then hyperthreading

If doing rendering or photoshop or video encoding then the Xeon is better is it has hyper threading so a Xeon would be like an i7 with a lower clock speed and no integrated gpu.

OK,
I am not going to overclock, as I have not had much experience and I don't want to damage my parts.

I am hoping the 4460 or which CPU I pick will be able to cope with future games and keep up with the 970.

It will be able to keep up with the 970 just fine. Unless there is some sudden technological breakthrough, your 970 will need to be replaced before the 4460 will.

Thank you sora, I have done a lot of research on the board and my other parts, glad to hear it!

I think I might just be able to get the 4690 in, if I swap the pro model of my board for the Plus version. I am going to have a look at the differences hopefully they aren't too different.
