Discussion Is anyone besides me going to miss Windows 10 ?

I've used every MS Windows O.S. from back when it was just a DOS-Shell up to today's Win 11. Of all the renditions of Windows prior and post up to the present, I still like W10 the best. Yes, the very early versions were crude and buggy; and probably shouldn't count. But by the time say... Win XP was in general use, the O.S. started to mature.

For my use today, I would still prefer to have a (supported) W10 machine over a W11 one . W10 even runs nicely on my old-timey LGA 775 MSI P6N SLI Platinum/Intel C2Q QX6750 build. I do have W11 on all the builds that support it, so I'm adapting as usual. And I'm learning to like it.

Don’t really think they’ve made a good version of windows since XP. Vista was a car crash and 7 started the snooping that’s just gotten worse and worse. macOS is so much better at this point as a day to day OS it’s just laughable because it just works and doesn’t get in your way. It also comes with a free office suite, video editor and DAW and doesn’t nickel and dime you for things like H265 encoding/decoding.

I go back and forth between 10 and 11 so seamlessly, I don't really notice the difference.

Oh, I do too. The only difference is I do notice a difference.

I actually prefer the memory management of 11 over 10. My lament is that the "official" spec of 11 is going to make a lot of very capable systems virtually obsolete for the average PC user.

Sadly, you are so right. But I guess that's progress.

There's barely any differences after a couple of minor tweaks (the most important one is to get back the Win 10 right-click context menu). I don't miss 10 at all since the two OS are pretty much identical. Even my powershell scripts run exactly the same. The biggest difference I still notice are the options missing from the main settings menu, but they are still easily accessible from the control panel.

The main thing I missed when upgrading to W11 was the W10 ribbon bar on the Explorer File screen. I really like having the "Copy to" and "Move to" buttons. Since they released a Reg patch for that I've been satisfied with W11.
