Is Arduino meant for learning how to code?

I'm interested in coding from young and it's currently my school holidays. I've recently watched this youtube video from Mike Boyd learning how to program his coffee maker. So I'm wondering if it is possible to learn how to code by using Arduino and if so, which kit should I get? There's the starter kit and there are other small packages with just 1 main board in it.

You should also look into trying Scratch via MIT as a starting experience. Scratch is free with lots of documentation and support.

Encourages good coding practices. May look childish but you can do some really interesting and challenging projects.

Yeah, I've tried out scratch before, it's pretty easy to understand and gave me a great insight about how the functions worked. Thanks for your info

It's certainly a reasonable place to start, but it's not the best.

Fire up a Linux virtual machine and get started with C, it's still the universal language for a reason.
