is asus gt 710 ddr3 graphic card compatible with mymotherboard

I recently brought a zotac nvidia gt710 2gb graphic card. but it was not compatible with my motherboard. my friend has an asus gt610 and it was compatible. i checked the specifications and requirements and found that both the cards have almost same requirements. also i found out that zotac is not provididng compatibility for many motherboards. as asus was working, i am planing on buying an asus gt710. if any one has any suggestions or advice, please help
