to be honest I wanted to buy ASRock Fatal1ty Z97X Killer, but alas when I arrived at the store, it was out of stock forever they said. they did contact me about it, but I was already on my way with my case, talk about late

didn't want going home empty handed after back breaking effort of bringing the case to the store, after doing some quick researches on the net while looking at the store available mobo list, I decided Asus, even though I read elsewhere Asus quality is dropping down these years? I dunno... Gigabyte, I heard bad things, too, MSI... not familiar with em, heard the QC is bad, although my GPU is MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G and running very good. I read that Z97A is a good mid entry mobo, and since the price difference between Z97A and Pro was only $8, I decided to get the Pro (more VRM, better heatsinks). I mainly use my rig for gaming btw

so... for you guys who are also using the same mobo, what do you think? is this a good mobo? stable, durable, no hardware problem (well, except DOA and stop working after 1 months case, that's just luck related, and softwares, I understand, I seldom use bundled softwares if not necessary anyway). kinda wary now bought this without sufficient researches... should've hold off purchase that day

I read Newegg reviews, it's mixed. I dunno what's right. so I thought the best way is to ask end user fellows coz it's bought with our hard earned money, so the opinion is honest, at least more than Asus herself (fanboys not included though)

the problems I read in Newegg which catch my attention:

1. terrible latency/latency spike/lag spike even in BIOS, now I don't understand well what's this means. but I do feel that the keyboard control on BIOS is sluggish, while scrolling with mouse is better, yet still sluggish nevertheless. it's like the mobo is loading when I hold down key to move the highlight cursor from top to bottom (or left right when changing Menu Tab), it's certainly not smooth. is that normal, the BIOS just not sorted out well yet? hope in Windows it won't be like that

2. sound card is not good, microphone input for onboard sound is defective

you guys ever run into these problems?

I ran into some BIOS problem here:

but it's solved now. thought to replace the RAM with the Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866MHz one since it's in the QVL, while my current 1600Mhz is not, though it's the same Corsair Vengeance Pro series, just different speed. almost thinking to buy it... or... do you think I should buy the 1866Mhz anyway? but 1866Mhz.. is it gonna hotter? I mean higher clock... you know my case is sucked. what's RAM safe temp anyway? if the produced heat is no different with 1600Mhz, then, hmm... faster clock... kinda want it

I haven't install Windows yet. pretty busy this week, also I want to take things slowly, step-by-step. hope this is a good buy, run smooth on Windows. I'm still using the usual SATA HDDs, no SSD, nothing fancy here

Solution
I've built a couple of them with no problems. Might make sure you have the latest BIOS and when you install Win, get the latest drivers off the Asus website
