The free version is annoying, I know that. Google some comparisons and see what the experts have to say. Trouble is anti virus software is constantly changing so only a review written very recently is of much use.
I cop a bit of flack for my personal anti virus setup. I use defender because it's free and came with windows 10. I add an occasional scan with malware bytes and eset nod32 free online scan tool just as an added layer of defense. Not the best tools to be found perhaps, but all 3 combined add up to $0 and give me pretty decent protection. Adding an add blocker and pop up blocker to your browser can help too.
