I was curious I've used cc cleaner in the past and read that its a myth about cleaning your registry it can actually be harmful is this true is it safer to not use cc cleaner on you're registry?

I know this is very debatable thank you

I have used ccleaner for several years now including the registry cleaner.

No problems that I can remember.

ccleaner seems to update fairly often so I tend to hold off on updates for a while just in case one of the updates proves problematic.

Also I have become a bit more skittish about the registry cleaning. Not sure about the benefits to risks balance.

Best, I think, to leave well enough alone aka "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Always back the registry up first as recommended if you do decide to use/apply the cleaner.
I've faithfully used ccleaner and once a year do the registry cleaning to get rid of the junk that piles up. never had an issue!
the only pain is after the cleaning you need to login to your sites with you username and passwords again once.
I also use avast for my free virus utility...it's good and simple to use.
