Is CCleaner safe?

Hey all, I want to clean my registry, and a seeming popular program is ccleaner. I just want to know if its safe, and wont harm my computer.

CCleaner is pefectly safe, I have used it very many times before. Although, beware that cleaning your registry will not make your PC perform better; it will only make your registry a bit more stable, and maybe a free up a few megabytes of your hard drive. Make sure you download from the official sit though, and not some dodgy CNET Mirror.

Im not looking for a solution to speed up my computer because it is already very fast(i7 4790k, 16gb ram). I only want to clean my registry to fix an issue I have with some IDE's and other programming interfaces. Thanks so much for the reply!
