Is core i7 930 processor good for gaming?

i am new to the forum..and sorry for my english.

i have a gtx 560ti VGA.. i have planned to buy a core i7 920 processor.is this good for gaming.if i install 8gb ram can i play gta v high settings with gtx 560 ti and core i7 930.

please help me .. thank you

The old Nahalem based i7's haven't aged quite as well as the Sandy Bridge ones have, but as no review sites bother to benchmark them, it's hard to say for certain. There will be a performance loss, but your GPU of choice is likely to be the limiting factor, not the CPU.

Solution
The problem with buying an old, used processor is that motherboard prices tend to be outrageous. You'll spend as much in total as on a newer CPU, unfortunately.

The current budget king in the US is the Pentium G4560, it's basically a 6th gen Core i3 but for half the price, at ~$65. Depending on how the used market is where you live, an i5 2xxx may fall into your price range and finding a motherboard for it will be a lot easier.
