Is Corsair Builder CX500 500W good enough for GTX 1050?

I have a PC with Intel Pentium G4400, 8GB DDR4 ram @2133mhz and a Corsair Builder CX500 500W psu. Is this PSU good enough for a GTX 1050 2gb? (GTX 1050 http://www.gigabyte.us/Graphics-Card/GV-N1050OC-2GD#kf )

I just want to be sure before buying. 😀

It's plenty, but the CX450 is significantly higher quality and would be a better choice.

I agree with Weberdarren97. The Corsair CX series PSU's are made very poorly and use low quality part in side them. For these reasons they die quickly and have a higher chance of taking other components with it when it dies. I myself have had to replace a couple of these for clients because they have died. DO not get the Corsair CX PSU's.

If cost is a factor, besides what weberdaren97 has suggested, look into the XFX PSU's. They are made by Seasonic and have all the quality of the Seasonic but with a lower price tag.

Also, I would definitely replace the current power supply within a year. ASAP would be my recommendation, unless it cuts into his budget for the card he wants.

The CX450 uses DC-DC converters for the minor rails, which improves voltage regulation considerably and automatically leads to replacement of some electrolytic capacitors (in this case of lower quality) with polymer capacitors (which are comparable to the highest-quality electrolytics). It's a pretty big upgrade.

The old CX500 is not so dire that it needs replacement within a year. Maaaybe if you were pushing it to the limit with a power-hungry rig, but not with a Pentium and 1050.

The newer 450w, 550w, 650w CXM units a are based on a newer better platform and use better secondary capacitors aswell. They are rated for 40°C where most of the older problematic CXs where only rated for 30°C.
