I'm currently using core i5 6400 , 8gb single slot ram 3 cassis fan and a Gtx 950 with corsair vs 450.
i was planning for gtx 1060 with another slot of 8gb ram,
but some people saying that corsair vs 450 is a bad psu, i dont know why, im using this psu for more than 2 years.
So my question is should i worry about my psu?

Solution
It is a very low end PSU indeed and I don't recommend using it with ANY expensive hardware. Get a decent 500w+ PSU with at least an 80+ Bronze certification. However, don't panic, just plan to swap it out asap and don't connect it to a gtx1060. Once you got that done, you can proceed to the upgrades, otherwise you will be risking your investments.

Wow Thanks for your reply, i was planning for 1060 for my PSU because the recommendation was only 400 watt, i thought this vs 450 could handle,
So i have one other question, if i have to change my psu then should i go for gtx 1060 or should i go for rx 560 8gb? im already using a free sync 75hz monitor. i mean which one can last long? i heard rumors that AMD gpu die faster than nvidia GPU.

* I think you mean rx580 8GB. If you already have a free-sync monitor, the rx580 8GB is the best choice. About the longevity of the video cards, I think that it is a debatable topic. It depends on how you plan to maintain your card, if you dust it often, if you overclock, etc. No need to be afraid of AMD video cards from reputable manufacturers.
By the way, the VS 450 delivers 408W on the +12 rail, so even if it were good quality it wouldn't have been adequate.

HAHAh yeah my bad, i meant rx 580 8gb, Then ill go for it but first i think i should check the temp of this gpu from other people, the temp is little warm in my room like 28-32 when AC is turned off.
and about the psu which brand should i get? theres evga 600W, sea sonic, thermaltake and corsair's other model available

The temperature in your room is just fine and depending on which exact model you get it can have very decent temperature even while on load. About the PSU, I suggest anything in this list: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/power-supply/#m=11,14,71&W=550,700&e=6,5,4&F=0. Personally, for a configuration such as yours, I would get an EVGA supernova G3, a Seasonic focus plus 650w Gold or a Corsair RMx 650W. All of them have great performance and are value for money.

There's only 1 model left of Evga (EVGA 600W 80 Plus efficiency ) is it good? And there's no RMx series left in my area.
so if that EVGA 600W 80 Plus efficiency is good enough than i can go for it, 600 watt is enough .
and another last question :) im really not worrying about the bottleneck, im worried about which Gpu is faster for rendering ? (1060/580) i'm a beginner so 6/8 GB Vram is enough for me right now
Again thanks for Helping me out 😀

If you mean the EVGA 600w 80+ white, then no, no, it is a terrible PSU as well. Again, get something with an 80+ certification and up otherwise you are risking your money, no matter the wattage it can deliver. With regard to the last question, both are suitable for different tasks. It all comes down to your definition of "rendering".

Ohh 🙁( ok then
Just found these
Cooler Master G550M
Thermaltake SMART Modular 630W
And
Corsair CX 600 v2
Cooler master and corsair is 80+ but bronze not gold
And not sure about the thermaltake
These three's are in stock
Any of them Enough/good for rx580?

Well, none of these is a perfect match, but if these are the only ones you have access to, I would get either the corsair or the coolermaster PSU. They aren't the most reliable units, but they will both be able to drive your system properly. Just know that there are far better PSUs out there and if you happen to come by one, don't hesitate to buy it instead.

Yeah sure im still looking for other better psu.
If i found better than those 2 then ill surely go for it
Thanks for your time

650W is completely pointless for your system.

The VS can run your system, and shouldn't fry any components due to its full set of protections, but you may experience black screens/reboots under load and noisiness. It also isn't good for your components' lifespans.

Don't choose by brand. Every brand will sell some lemons and you don't want to limit yourself to just a few options.

Get a good 450 / 550w power supply. The Cooler Master GM is okay, the CX600 isn't. Where are you buying from?

Considering that he plans to add an rx580 8GB, he would need at least 500w. So no, the vs450 wouldn't be able to run it and even if it did, it would definitely cause problems during load and as you said will thus compromise the components' life spans. I agree though that the coolermaster GM550w would be the most suitable option out of the three for such a build

Everyone is saying corsair VS series is not a good PSU so i'm not gonna take any risk, #Rexper now i'm going for rx 580 so ill need atleast 500w psu, so i'm going for a 600w psu,
Btw #PuperHacker i found another PSU which is Antec Neo Eco 650M/Antec NEO ECO 550M both are 80+ bronze and the price is reasonable.
And Antec is pretty popular in our country. so is this PSU any good ? i post this same thread into a gaming group and many of them using this antec 550w with rx 580.
SO what you say? can i go for Antec NEO ECO 550M?

The coolermaster and the antec PSUs are tier 4. Neither are perfect but both will be able to run your system and both are FAR better than the tier 6 vs450. Personally, I'd choose the coolermaster G550M because it has a 5 year warranty compared to antec's 3 year warranty. However, if it is unavailable, get the antec neo eco 550m, it will perform about the same. Hope you enjoy your purchase! :)

450w would be fine. 550w is you intend to over lock the GPU. 650w is unnecessary.

I quick search for the Antec Neo Eco M shows me it’s using the CWT GPK platform, not good. The cooler master GM would be better.

I still recommend the Corsair CX450 if you require 1 PCIe cable, otherwise the CX450M.

VS450 (grey/white) PSU is good too. according to Linus if the PSU is recommended by Jonnyguru it's good, and guess what he recommends VS450 (grey/white).

You are right about the new VS450.
It is indeed somewhat better than the old version.
However, I'd guess from the title he means the old, orange one which is far from a good pick for a build like this.
Even if he meant the new one though, I would only select it in many a dire situation, as the GM is objectively better.

Yeah if he has enough money I think it's better go for the highest quality he can go. there is no doubt in that, but if money and value is considered, VS series is more than enough. It's not like Corsair is a random chinese brand. I would be more concerned if he picked some random chinese PSU, or an unnamed one found in ebay/aliexpress.
