someone told me this psu could harm my pc, is that true ?

Solution
One thing the Corsair VS550 shouldn't do is harm your PC since it has the basic protections (over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, and short circuit protection). It is not a premium PSU but for the price point, you really can't expect much more than it offers.

Generally it's not a psu that harms a pc, its the users choice in psu. Constant high loading with a psu that's barely adequate size, with bad ripple and outputs will more harm, more often than a crappy psu. It's just not harm you'll see on a daily basis. A crappy psu tends to up and die, often quite spectacularly, whereas a bad choice in psu just tends to shorten the life of other components, especially the gpu and motherboard.

I've never seen a Corsair psu blow, but they do tend to just die quietly when they quit working, which is a good thing as it doesn't affect other components.

The VS isn't bad, per se, but it is on the lower end of the quality scale, so plan for the possibility of an RMA or replacement before the warranty expires.
