I've had my eye on a Cougar GEX 850 watts power supply, is it a good quality PSU?

It's midrange. Same as Cooler Master MWE Gold V2. Depends on the price if it's worth to buy.

What are other options you have for about the same money? Do include lower wattages as well.

Maybe give a budget and the shop(s) you look at.
