Is Crossfire possible for Radeon HD 7770 on AMD 790GX chipset?

I'm currently having an Asus HD7770 non-DC variant, an XFX HD7770 core edition (both have 1GB of DDR5 memory) and an AMD 790GX motherboard with 2xPCI-E 3.0 8x support. I'm wondering if they can be Crossfire'd or do I need to find newer chipsets to do the pairing, and if the two cards I mentioned above would be compatible with one another?

Yes it supports corssfire at pcie 2.0 x8 for each card. And yes two 7700's even from different vendors will work together in corssfire, speeds will be set to that of the slowest card.
