is crossfire that bad now

ok, so i can either buy a gtx 760 4gb or a r9 280 [non x], with the 280 being the cheaper choice, but i've heard bad things to say the least about crossfire. is crossfire still the hot mess that nvidia fans say it is or has it improved?

Its improved greatly with frame pacing crossfire works a lot better. Toms did a post awhile back on frame pacing testing it to sli in a blind study

Crossfire only matters if you're running two cards. Single GPU is not crossfire.
