Currently I am looking to build myself a pc and was looking for components. I saw this ram was listed at $140. I have no other components yet and was wondering if this was a good deal? What would be a good motherboard and graphics card that could work well with this ram? Trying to get into the PC building world and any help or direction would be great!

Solution
depends what cpu and mobo its paired with and what you plan on doing with it.

most times though a 2x16 is going to out perform a 4x8.

also, 3000mhz is the minimum spec you should be looking at if you doing a Ryzen build. it will matter less for intel, but 3000+ is better. a lot of people are saying 3200 or 3600 is the sweet spot these days.

Thank you for the help! I plan on doing low performance gaming and some streaming with the computer, I am guessing because of lower mhz it wouldn't work well with that?

intel cpus are less sensitive to ram speed. ryzen performance will suffer at lower frequencies because of their cache architecture (iirc).

also, 2 slot memory out performs 4 slot memory because its how dual-channel memory is meant to operate. only time to use all four slots is if you need a huge amount of ram like 64 or 128 gb because depending on your motherboard the only way to achieve this could be by using all 4 slots.
