Is DDR3 compatible with my Intel i5-5200U processor?

I want to upgrade my laptop from 6GB (1X4GB & 1X2GB) to 16GB (2X8GB) and I'm curious if DDR3 will work. I don't want to spend money on something that potentially wouldn't work. This is the one I'm currently looking at this one. If there are any questions you want to ask, I'm all ears. I'm not really technologically inclined so be patient with me ^-^. Thanks.

I don't think that the memory you linked earlier will work. Seems like your laptop requires DDR3L type of memory. For example, see here:

Is there a specific reason why a DDR3 stick doesn't work in DDR3L slots?

I'm only curious is all. I saw that my processor could take DDR3L and LPDDR3 and I just wonder why DDR3 wouldn't work.

Even the HP site for the laptop calls out the DDR3L type of memory (see above). I wouldn't risk it.

Alright, I appreciate you helping me with my question my good sir. If you don't mind, I'm going to ask one last question and I think I should be set after this. I now know to only go for DDR3L ram, but are there any brands that you would recommend? I see you posted the Crucial brand earlier, but are there other reputable brands? I'd like to cross shop to see which is the best deal I can get.

I prefer G.Skill and Corsair memory. Crucial is okay,as is Kingston. Those should be fine.
