I have read that LCD's are not so great for gaming because of the delay. Has anyone seen or heard this before?

The problem is always with the last thing you check ... so start there first.

Um yeah- that's where response time factors in. It's how long teh pixels take ot respond from white to black and black to white. What u typically want so ghosting as it's called is at a minumum is 25ms response time.

when i play a movie or playa game i dont notice it. but in not a hardcore gamer either. go to your local monitor store and ask them to play a fast dvd on the monitor, and if its it does not ghost, then its fine

I recommend visiting a CompUSA or Circit City and see if you can find a PC running a movie. I saw MIB on a new Sony flat screen and the delay is unmistakable.

If you're looking for a LCD for any kind of video (games or watch DVD's or TV) I recommend waiting a few months. Mitsubishi announced in January a breakthrough that dramically improves image delay.

It works by forcing the response time of the actual crystals with high or lower voltage differentals, then tappering the voltage difference off once the liquid crystal gets closer to the desired brightness. The article I read (I think it was in extremetech.com) said this LCD technology would start hitting the market around Q3 - and making a splash in Q4.

If my response is brief and vague its because the info you provided is too!

Haha, nevermind. I didn't realize that was your sig.

I think Flame found one. Bascially it says the same thing though as that's the only info that has been released about it. However, you should start seeing LCD's with this technology pretty soon, like after 2 or 3 months probably from what I have been hearing.

2-3 months? Where have u gathered this info? I have tried to contact Mitsubishi but to no avail. Any information u have I'd greatly appreciate. Imagine......20ms response time LCD that uses FFD....

Sig of the week.

Hehe, 20ms? Once FFD is implented, try like 10-15ms. I didn't hear or read this anywhere, but am assuming. For one, Viewsonic is announcing new LCD's that will be released very soon, one they say that has a response time of 11ms.

FFD doesn't change the times for rise/ fall, but it drastically reduces response times for the grey shifts. Man, if that 11ms LCD has FFD and is 17" or more w/ good viewing angle and all, it's mine. Where'd u get that info?

Sig of the week.

Actually I got it from Tomshardware, but it's off the French site. I'll get the actual link when I have time. I think this info was posted somewhere else in the forum too...

No, there is another LCD in there, a 20" one, that has a response time of 11ms.

I doubt it would be that soon. I'm thinking more like two or three months. But then again, you never know. I dunno if these LCDs are using FFD though. If they are not, just think what they could do with FFD.

Well if not I wonder what they are using to lower the response time so much. And with FFD we would get response times in the single digits according to Viewsonic's current specs if without it right now, like around 5-10ms. That would be insane....
