As the title states, is a DMS59 graphics card good for gaming?, or is it more for simple stuff like office work?

I want a dual monitor system, but my computer cannot handle a dual monitor system with its integrated graphics card and my monitors. I am in the need to get a new graphics card, but my computer is not a good computer and has only one single-width, half-height PCIx16 slot, and one single-width, half-height PCIx1 slot beneath it.

I shopped around and saw some DMS59 graphics cards online. Given my [very] limiting situation and seeing that they are low-profile, single-width, half-height cards I almost jumped at the opportunity to get one, but I'm curious if the DMS59 adapter would affect the quality of the video if connected to two DVI monitors, as opposed to the monitors connected directly to a graphics card.

My monitors both have one VGA-in and one DVI-in each and are 1600*900 in resolution, so getting a card that supports up to 2560*1600 per monitor is not a necessity. My computer's integrated graphics card is an NVidia GeForce 9200 with one VGA-out and an HDMI-out.

DMS-59 is not a graphics card. It is a port on a graphics card that can be used in conjunction with a DMS-59 cable adapter that has either 2 DVI ports or 2 VGA ports used to connect up to 2 monitors.

All graphic cards can support two monitors as long as the card itself has at least two graphic ports whether they are VGA, DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort. The following Radeon HD 6670 is a low profile card that you can use to connect two monitors.

However, one of the port is HDMI so you will need to by a HDMI to DVI adapter

OK. I knew the DMS59 was a port and not the card itself, I just called the cards "DMS59 graphics cards" cos it was quicker than "graphics card with a DMS59 port".

Thanks for your response, but I'm still wondering if a card with DMS59 would hold up proper graphics; would it update the screen quickly at a good resolution with a pretty color contrast, important for gaming and video watching; or would it be more for office work where screen update frequency, resolution, and image contrast aren't important.

Would a card with a DMS59 to DVI work nicely, or would it be better to get a card like what you listed?

I don't know too much about the DMS-59 port.

If you want to play games then I think you are really better off with one of the cards I listed. Most graphic cards capable of playing games do not have a DMS-59 port which would probably add additional cost. They are more likely used in simple graphic cards for office related tasks.
