Is dmz and port forwarding equivalent when it comes to a certain console or game

the title is the question i play xbox 360 and cod ghosts
will forwarding xbox and cod ghosts ports be equivalent to the feel that the dmz gave me

They don't work exactly the same way, but they can give similar results. DMZs are much easier to setup, and port fowarding is more of a case by case thing. You might also set a router as a DMZ but it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to forward a port to one (unless you were chaining them.)

ok but will my online on xbox feel the same port forwarding the ports as it did when i dmz the xbox because i noticed a huge difference from when i left it auto to dmz and the nat was open both times

If you open all the ports needed by the XBOX and the game then yes it should, with DMZ you are more or less saying anything can come and go with port forwarding you are doing the same thing only on selected ports.

DMZ = DeMilitarized Zone. Anything goes in that space (mostly), but that space cannot touch the rest of your internal network.

Port forwarding usually means the device is inside the network, and you are forwarding specific ports through the router, to that device.
Any vulnerabilities on that device may leave the rest of your network and devices at risk.

Within the ActionTec (yes, I have one), in the port forwarding section....
Select the internal IP address of the device, and then you can select the specific application. In this case, Call of Duty.
