Is DP to HDMI 144hz?

I just got my brothers old 144 hz monitor and want to run it using my laptop. My laptop only has an hdmi connection but my monitor has DVI and a DisplayPort connection. I was wondering if I could get a displayPort to HDMI cable and I could plug the DP side into my monitor and hook my hdmi onto that. Would that be able to run 144hz or at least 120hz? I have a lenovo y510p if that matters, thanks!

Eh, I'm pretty sure it's a no. 🙁 HDMI 1.4 can't get 144hz to a monitor, but HDMI 2.0 can. Problem is HDMI 2.0 came out recently so it might not be equipped on that y510P.
