is DVI to VGA converter the same as VGA to DVI converter?

I got a Geforce GT520, but there was one thing i didnt check, and i am lucky i watched a video.. the card has the DVI slots but my monitor has a VGA plug, so if i buy a DVI to VGA converter can i still use it, to connect it, or will i have to get a VGA to DVI converter, if they make them?

Technically they are always DVI to VGA. So yeah you just get one. They are like 4$.

Assuming your GT520 has a DVI-I port, all you need is a DVI to VGA adapter. DVI-I provides the needed analog signal required by the VGA interface. See here for more info (note the differences in DVI ports to see what you have):
