Is EVGA FTW 1080 hybrid better than non FTW 1080?

After looking for whats available I found out that almost all EVGA FTW 1080 hybrid cards were out of stock, but there still are EVGA 1080 hybrid cards just with out the FTW. Is it worth waiting for the FTW cards to get back into stock or just buy a non FTW card?

the ftw card is a VERY over-engineered card with tons of extra power phases and such. the non ftw is a reference card with the normal 1080 specs.

with that said, the fta uses a ton more power and gives BARELY any extra performance over the regular one. literally no more than a couple of fps. so for the extra cost and trouble of getting one, the FTW is not really worth it.

you can oc both and reach the same speeds and same fps so no real reason to fork out the extra money for the ftw edition.

The FTW is binned better. Evga sets the highest clocks on the FTW, after they are built. Those that pass, stay FTW, those that fail become FTW DT. So you'll get maximum 'out of the box' performance from an FTW. But, if you plan on OC, then it's pot luck, it's the same processor, but whether it'll hit FTW levels or beyond and remain stable is anyone's guess. Same sorta goes for the FTW though, it passed stability for the set clocks, but how much is left no one knows.

FTW, better out of the box than non-FTW. Only real advantage.

There arent too many differences when it comes to real time operation. They all perform around the same region. But if you break them down to individual specs, the differences lie around the cooler types, power phases, core clocks and in some cases power draw. But they do not make too much of a difference when it comes to performance.
