I have a 60hz freesync monitor and am running an amd r7 370 2gb, I'm planning on upgrading my gpu and since my monitor has freesync I was wondering if it was worth buying an amd card like an rx 580 over a nvidia card, since I've been reading that amd cards aren't doing that good right now when it comes to price to performance?

Solution
The prices of the RX 580's (4/8gb) that I've seen on PCPer are actually cheaper then the 1060 6gb and performance wise they trade blows depending on the game so I would think getting one would be a pretty good choice considering your monitor.
nVidia G-Sync is expensive and overrated. Some uninformed reviewers used bad drivers when testing FreeSync early on and gave it a false reputation for not being as good. It's fine.

For 1080p the RX 580 will be a good fit. It has even been coming down in price lately and can be had for near MSRP now. Go for it.

Graphics card prices are dropping right now, and it will most likely keep dropping until AMD and Nvidia release new line of cards this year (Aug-Nov). IMO, you'd probably get better visual results by going with AMD (less tearing). Check your monitor's freesync range on https://www.amd.com/en/products/freesync-monitors because freesync range vary by monitor. Compare the range with the fps you'd expect in-game. If you can afford a higher hz monitor, I'd highly suggest that as well for fps games.
