Hi guys.

I'm building a new gaming system and after weeks of researching and choosing I finally came to the decision that I'm going with the AMD platform, but my question is: Is it worth buying a processor that has more than a year when it came out and an obsolete 32nm lithography? I heard that Intel is going to release 14nm processors in this year and I don't know if AMD is going to release a new processor line or at least improve the current FX CPU's.

Thanks in advance!

Solution
From what I've seen the FX line of CPUs will still be AMD's high-end line until the end of this year and then it will end. If you have the money to spend on an 8350 then you could probably instead afford a better i5 4670k setup, which is better for gaming and single-threaded tasks. Following that it seems as though AMD is going to continue RnD on APUs (considering they provide the hardware for the consoles they may know something we don't) and ditch CPUs altogether, but it's just speculation. Their roadmap shows continued support for FX at least until the end of this year IIRC.

I believe intels upcoming line of CPUs is going to be Haswell-E - someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe these are intended to be very high end (X99...

Why is it that you're set on AMD by the way? And what will you be using your PC for?

In what world is i5 anywhere close to an amd value chip(unless you happen to live near a microcenter)? Don't go fx8350, get the 8320 if you want to go that route. I would wait 10 days until reviews of the kaveri apu come out. Not so much for the graphics(which would be close to hd7750 gddr3 level), but to see how much better the new steamroller cores perform compared to the piledriver cores in almost all other current(and relevant) AMD products.

Ansering to everybody, the reason i decided to go for AMD wasn't performance (I would be retarded if that was the reason), but because in my country, the 8350 and 8320 are cheaper than the i5 4670k, I would love to buy that chip, it is one of the best solutions for gaming setups... but anyway I will check if I can afford the i5, if not I will have to go with the 8320 or wait to see what is released in the future. Thanks all!
