I have 256MB PC100 DIMM, however I see that there are those that would prefer to buy Crucial RAM. Not taking anything away from them but I can get RAM at half the price of Crucials....Well to the point I dont want to overclock it and what is the real difference....I am not into RAM so can you please answer this in terminology that I would understand....is the difference that noticable....thankx in advance to those that reply

In terms of performance, as long as it's rated to run at a certain speed, there's basically no difference if you don't overclock. Usually, generic memory will be fine and run at least the rated speed. If the labelling of the rated speed is accurate, and there are no "tricks" being played on the consumer, there's no reason to say it's "bad RAM." However, with Crucial's RAM, you can expect good performance, as well as maximum compatibility. With generic RAM, you might get lucky and get RAM as good as Crucial's, but many a time, you might not. Hope that clears things up a little bit.
