Is ghosting an issue?

So I recently decided to look for a new monitor because I'm currently using my old TV. I want to get like a 1080p 35 inch curved screen with a 144hz refresh rate. The problem is almost all the monitors on Newegg say that ghosting is a huge issue. Is it really an issue for a casual gamer like me that enjoys being a little competitive. I'm already playing on a TV so I'm not used to good hardware.

A monitor with a 1440 refresh rate should not really have ghosting issues.
