As per title. I have a B460 Aurous Pro AC motherboard with onboard 2.5gig lan. It's a fresh build. Both the bios and windows don't detect the carrier when I connect a known working lan cable from my old comp. Any thoughts?

Solution
No such thing as backwards compatibility when going backwards in LAN speeds. If your motherboard is 2.5GB LAN then it'll do everything below it.

Known working cable? Try another.
Have you tried downloading the updated LAN drivers from the manufactures website?

Flashing the latest bios fixed it. It speaks volumes about Gigabyte's idea of quality when they cant even release a working lan port on release date.
