So I'm a massive gamer and have been gaming on pc for about 2 years now and I absolutely love it. Recently I have gotten a new pc and am thinking about buying a new monitor to go along with it. The basic specs for my pc are (gtx1080 8gb, i7-8700 and 16gb ram) the basic specs of the monitor are (1440p, 27 inch and 60hz). Im just looking for opinions on if it is worth upgrading from a 1080p monitor, and for a pc like mine how much will things like the frame rate differ?

Solution
Your hardware can definitely run it and is highly recommended. I’ve gone back and forth a couple times between 1080p/ultra and 1440p/high in BF1 and the 1440p is much better.

I know the cost kinda hurts, but I’d recommend shelling out for the Dell S2716DG to get higher refresh and gsync. I’ll never go without that again! I didn’t experience the issues with Fallout that Wayfall did so YMMV.

Well i'd recommend getting s 60hz one if your not bothered with uncapped frames. I have a Dell TN 1440p 144hz Gsync panel and it irritates me when i have to cap bethesda's elder scrolls and Fallout games to 60fps and it takes my eyes 30-60mins to adjust to the lower fps compared what i usually games at (100-144fps). Thou thats just them, i play my other games in fps above 100

Thanks for your help I think im going to get a 1440p monitor instead of sticking with 1080p but guna stick at 60hz as its much cheaper and It doesnt annoy me or ruin my gaming experience in anyway.

Anyway its means you can max everything and still have lots of power left to keep at 60fps. Shouldn't see any fps drops at all really. My fps never drops lower than 80fps on unoptimised games.
