I'm going to buy a monitor (as a second monitor to my laptop) 95% for work (programming and graphics). I am not sure which type to buy.

Is good "NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M" for 4k monitor? Or 1080 is enough for programing and graphics work?

So you say that 1080 resolution monitor is enough, don't you?
And if I may ask which one is best for me in price range to about 370 dolar (about 320€)?
Maybe one more question - flat or curved?
Thanks so much for your answer!

Do you have a monitor running at 60Hz currently? Run it at 30Hz for a bit and see what you think. Imo 1080p for 60Hz will be better than running 4K 30Hz.

The right monitor for you would be best to see in store. Dell monitors are quite good so start with them

At first sorry formy english.
I have >
> LENOVO 20C600JAXS
> i5, 2.6GHZ
> NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M (mentioned above)
> ...

> 50 Hz
> LCD 1920 x 1080
> 8-bit

Is that an external monitor or your laptop screen?

Link to your laptop please the model number LENOVO 20C600JAXS doesn't list specifically.

Recovery Hz is not optimal, have you tried changing to 60Hz?

30Hz is quite low and you wont like it. Mouse and keyboard is also a lot more sluggish.

I have run Kepler on a 4k HDMI screen.

Officially, its HDMI 1.4 only supports 4k 60Hz at 4:2:0 (which is only OK for video as it throws away 3/4 of color info so unsuitable for antialiased text). However to my surprise 4k60 worked just fine on the desktop for some reason, with only some odd flickers in some dialog boxes esp when placed in the top left corner. That's definitely good enough for any 2D desktop work.

Kepler can even hardware accelerate H.264 video at 4k. However 4k H.265 HEVC is entirely rendered in software so would be a stuttery mess unless you have a really powerful CPU.

At first I changed it from 50 Hz to 60Hz.
Hope this help ... i am trying to add an image

To my surprise, it just worked as soon as the drivers were installed, and the drivers themselves set the not-officially-supported (except in Displayport) 4k 60Hz as the recommended resolution. This was a GTX650, which was later rebranded as the desktop GT740. The mobile version is the same with lower clocks.

However there is a common monitor resolution between 4k and 1080p--1440p or 2560x1440. I would much rather use that than 1080p for productivity work.
