Is GTA V Worth Buying?

I've never played the console versions. My PC should be more than enough to run GTA V. That said, none of my friends are PC gamers so I won't have a crew to hang with when I'm online, which I feel will take away from the experience. Is this game worth buying for the single player campaign alone? I mean, this is $60. Games like DA:Inquisition, Skyrim, Pillars of Eternity are absolutely packed with content and I don't feel bad buying those games because they provide hundreds of hours of quality content. Money's tight right now for me, so I'm asking you guys. Do you think this game is worth the cash?

The single player is fun but the multiplayer is more fun. You will be able to find people to play with. I always have. I have very few RL friends (most moved away) and the ones I do have don't game on PC like I do. I started playing TF2 alone and found a lot of friends to play games with.

I think it is worth it. I enjoy it and am only playing the online since I played SP on the 360 (I just don't pay for XBL).

Well for the most fun you´d want 1-3 [friends/ nice random] people to play with you, but that is just my opinion.
Also about the single player, I´v heard it is pretty underwhelming so if that is what you would have to resort to, then I do not suggest it.

Wow that's a nice find! Unfortunately, if I were to buy GTA V, I'd go to the store to buy it. I like physical boxes (I'm the minority, I know), never really liked digital downloads unless there's no other option (indie titles). Thanks anyway though!

I played TF2 alone too, which was fun and I made friends but it's not really comparable to GTA V Online. TF2 sets up teams and encourages teamwork to win. I've heard most people you encounter in GTA V Online will just try to kill you on site lol.

That is in free roam. When you do "Jobs" (missions) you are placed on a team that requires teamwork to complete. One is to take out 5 targets in 10 minutes scattered across the map and then a 6th one after those are done. You need to work together to complete it in time.

That sounds awesome. I ended up biting the bullet and bought the game. :D

When you have leveled up a bit and have unlocked some better weapons you can start the Heists. They are team based and require multiple setup parts, some require you to split into two teams. If you want a taste for how the heists work before you do it in GTA Online you can do the story and they have a few heists in there. However it is more fun online as people might screw up in funny ways.

I would disagree. I haven't had any major issues with it. I have seen some glitches but hey that is the world of PC gaming. Even the 360/PS3 version had glitches, such as flying cars or random stuff.

Game runs great for me on my setup and for quite a few others.

LOL, funny you should mention the PS3/360 versions, because people are reporting the SAME BUGS on PC that happened on those platforms, nearly TWO YEARS later. Indicating all they've done in that time is make 1st person animations and optimizations for PC. Regarding bug testing and fixing, they've done very little, especially pre launch.

Why else would you see numerous page threads about bugs in key story heist missions like The Jewelry Store, Blitz Play, Caida Libre, and The Paleto Score? Hell, even the Prologue heist glitches for many. And it's not just a handful of people on the GTA V forums, there are numerous forums, sites and wikis mentioning various problems and workarounds, because Rockstar have not fixed them properly.

So I really don't care whether you disagree, my point stands. Based on how many people have had such problems and how piss poor Rockstar's ticket and patch response is, it's simply not worth risking having such problems to buy the game at or near full price. It's a fun game when things work OK, but often they don't if you are one of the many whom experience bugs.

You say "that is the world of PC". No, that is the world of rushed ports. This game had nearly TWO YEARS extra dev time for the PC version, and CLEARLY they did not prioritize polishing it like they implied. If Creative Assembly can make a pretty much technically flawless Aliens game, a genre they've never even DONE before, then big money Rockstar ought to be able to give their MAIN STAPLE TITLE at least SOME semblance of QA, esp TWO YEARS after initial release!!!

It's inexcusable, and the general consensus is that Rockstar's reputation has been severely marred by it.

The world of PC is bugs and glitches. Back before everyone had high speed internet they rarely got fixed. These days they can patch easily and make sure most everyone gets them. Hell even VALVe still patches Half Life, a game that is nearly 20 years old, for new found bugs and glitches.

Also two years of work on the 360/PS3 version wont fix issues that the PC version will have. Vastly different systems.

I guess I have just been gaming long enough to not really get bugged by it. They will fix it, it is a big game for them. But hey if you want to shift through millions of lines of code on the thousand upon thousands of possible hardware and software configurations people have be my guest. You would never release a game if you did that.

No such thing as a perfect game. Never has been, never will be.

Yeah I know poor quality releases are getting common, but one of the main reasons Rockstar have staggered releases is to give proper time and money to the PC version, but now even that has gone to the wayside.

Maybe they WILL fix it properly in time, but they've so far not even acknowledged these common bugs in the main story heists. Instead they're fixing minor things that most haven't even complained about.

Meanwhile, many of those whom loyally preordered, or paid full price at launch, are having a very frustrating experience searching for workarounds, while they dawdle with trivial things ignoring us.
