Is GTX 1070 ideal for my configuration?

Hello,

I have an i5-3450 @ 3.1 GHz on an Intel DH61WW Motherboard.
I wanna know if the GTX 1070 is ideal or will it bottleneck with this motherboard/CPU at 1080p

P.S I have 8 Gigs of RAM if that makes any difference.

The 1070 is serious overkill if your going for only 1080p gaming. its a 1440p card in all seriousness, take a look at the gtx 1060 or rx 480(both are a little over 200 usd). Save you some cash for other upgrades or what have you. An neither the 1060 or 480 should be bottle necked by your cpu or your mobo( which id recommend you get a better one of, yours is fine for now but it doesn't look to have a lot of room for upgrades).

Yeah I was thinking of going for the RX 480 but it seemed a little underpowered for my 144 Hz panel. And I also do some streams once in a week and many of the viewers suggested I try an Nvidia card for Shadow Play. So far I've managed to save up 600 USD (That's how much the 1070 costs in India) and wanted to go all out. And that got me thinking if I should buy the GPU first or the rest of the system.

The upgrades won't come for a while though, so if the 1070 will be fine for 144 Hz at 1080p then I wanna get it.

I agree. The 1070 is overkill for 1080p. The only situation I could recommend you get a 1070 is that if you plan to upgrade your monitor to 1440p in the very near future. I have a 1070 and a 1440p monitor and they work wonderfully together. The gtx 1060 or rx 480 recommendation is sport on. Also if this is a store bought PC you will have PSU considerations as many of those use 350 watt PSU's. No harm in getting a 1070 that is for sure and if you really want 100+ FPS then its not a bad choice.. Check your PSU before you pull the trigger.

I have the OCZ ZS Series 650W Power supply. I assume that's enough?

yes its enough, i have a 1070, a 6600k an like 10 fans an a few usb devices in my pc, an its powered by a 650w p2

Also the gtx1060 is still really good for your monitor at 1080p with no worry of a bottle neck. A reference card gtx1060 pulled off these frames at 1080p. As a average fps.
93fps Shadow of mordor. 119 bioshock infinite, 104 Tomb raider

Note that 80FPS average (if using VSYNC ON a 60Hz monitor) is most applicable since it's an average thus the game will drop below that.

Witcher 3 is 80FPS at 1080p (without Hairworks, and there may be a small CPU bottleneck... note that CPU bottleneck varies by the game. You WILL have it in some games though most should be fairly minor)

In fact, many newer games sit between 60 and 90FPS average at 1080p:

There's also FUTURE PROOFING. Games will continue to get more demanding, or you may get a better monitor.

Having said that, if a GTX1060 allows you to buy a better monitor NOW or something else you feel is more important then that may be the way to go.

Chances are if you get a GTX1060 you'll buy another GPU sooner than if you bought a GTX1070.

Nah I'm looking for a fairly long-term solution. 3 years atleast.
