I have an laptop with a GTX 950M, it runs reasonably well, but sometimes I can't just get some settings to medium on BeamNG drive, is it really that weak? What is odd is that I have the DDR3 instead of the GDDR5. I thought for 800€ this laptop would be a beast, not that is bad because I really like it's performance. Another question I have is: is it an upgrade from a GeForce 710M 1GB? I'm not a pro so don't judge me if this is a stupid question.

Cheers.

The 950M was an entry-mid range card when it launched, in Q1 2015.
4 years on, it's showing it's age at 1080p.

At 800EUR in 2019, I'd say you overpaid, honestly. If you're happy with the performance, that's all that matters though.

Yes, DDR3 or DDR5, the 950M is a solid upgrade over a 710M. About 3x the performance in synthetics and likely around 2x FPS in most games.

In terms of performance the 950M reminds me of the GTX 1050 ti...not so good and not bad at the same time...so yes whats really matters is that you're happy with the performance.
