Hi,

I have almost finished my gaming build and was rather confused on which gpu to get. I have already bought the following components:

Intel i7 6700k
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz
Corsair Hydro H55 Quiet Edition Liquid CPU cooler
Corsair CSM CS650m PSU
Corsair Carbide 200r PC Case

Now the main question is which gpu will be better for maxing out games on 1080p 60 fps or above with msaa on & rest of the settings on ultra ? The gtx 970 was my choice but some people said it wont be able to max the latest games and i should get the 980 or 980 ti. But then i heard that the new gtx 1070 & 1080 are releasing in a couple of months, so should I get a 970 or 980 or simply wait for the new pascal gpus ? I already have an hd 6970 1gb and hd 7850 1gb OC lying around to get by until the release. My budget would be somewhere around $600.

Thanks in advance

the gtx 1080 releases on the 27th of this month, the 1070 is sometime in june i belive(cant remember sorry). i would personally wait for either a cheaper used 980ti or wait until vendors such as msi, gigabyte, evga release their versions of the 1080
Even if it will able to do games now, that doesnt mean it will still perform like that in one or two years. Since you didn't buy the 970 yet I'd advise waithing for the GTX 1080 available since it's the neatest thing available for your system and budget. You definitely won't regret it.

I would get the GTX 1080.

GTX 970: 1080p @ 45 FPS - 60 FPS (depending on game)
GTX 980 Ti: 1080p @ 90 FPS - 144 FPS (depending on game)

GTX 1080 (non Ti) @ 144 FPS w/ MSAA x8 * This is only a guess. I have no idea what the actual performance of this card will be. No one does until it's available for purchase.

There are preliminary benchmarks out and the 1080 is about the same as a 980Ti. This is common when they release a new series.
