Is GTX 970 good enough for 1080p ultra graphics 60 FPS gaming?

The rest of computer specs - Intel i5-3570 3,4 GHz quad core, 8 GB RAM, windows 8.1. Could I run The Witcher 3, Far Cry 4, Fallout 4, and every other latest game on 1080p, ultra graphics and FXAA without any lag at 60 fps. Sometimes, FPS tends to drop when you encounter a large number of enemies in a game, for example, a giant clan battle on elder scrolls online. Would FPS drop on 970 too? Assuming you have the highest settings.

And don't wory, I will upgrade the power supply. 😛

Not sure about the others but there is sections in FC4 where even a GTX970 will struggle at those settings (the Shangi-la missions).
Yep, you'll get frame rate drops in large battles, partly due to the increased CPU and internet workload and, obviously the greater rendering effort the graphics card has to make, no matter what hardware you have, it'll happen at some point.
Don't be so concerned with maxing out the settings, most of us can't easily spot the difference between 'high' and 'max' but the frame rate dropoff can be very large and no matter which graphics card you have, be careful with the AA settings, the single biggest way to hammer the frame rate, regardless of overall setting is to use too much AA.

I have an overclocked 970 with a 1920x1200 monitor and the only game that i get less than 60fps on ultra on is the witcher 3 and that is because i have hairworks enabled which does lower fps by like 15

That's good however your 4790k is also helpful, the skip has a 3570k...

yes i have overclocked it and it performs better than the stock 980, just take my fps in witcher with a grain of salt because the hairworks is really demanding and im running a bit higher than 1080p
